As a Graphic Designer I in our Overland Park, KS office, you will support AEI’s visual communication strategy by assisting in the creation and implementation of both print and digital materials.

Visual communication is crucial in business development, demonstrating AEI’s technical expertise, and developing marketing campaigns that align with the company’s goals and values. As a Graphic Design I, your responsibilities will include collaborating on graphic design projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables, and maintaining brand standards. You will work closely with the Marketing Company Wide Team (CWT) and various internal teams to support creative projects while continuously contributing fresh ideas and innovative concepts. Your creative skills will be leveraged to communicate AEI’s world-class engineering services to clients, industry partners, and market leaders.

 

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

The following job functions are typical of the position but are not all-encompassing.

  • Assist in designing and producing visual content, including illustrations, infographics, and other design elements, for various marketing materials such as brochures, advertisements, and digital content.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal team members to ensure cohesive and effective design execution.
  • Support senior designers in managing graphic design projects from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with brand standards and project goals.
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions, contributing creative ideas that align with the brand identity and marketing objectives.
  • Stay updated with basic design trends and tools to contribute effectively to design projects, with a strong commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively and communicating progress to team members.
  • Receive and implement feedback from senior designers to improve design work and ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Work under the direction of senior designers and project leads to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Minimum qualifications for our Graphic Designers:

  • Associate’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • One to five years of experience in graphic design.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of successful projects in print, digital, and multimedia design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and other relevant design software.
  • Familiarity with production processes for both in-house and professional printing.
  • Strong understanding of typography, color theory, and layout techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven effectiveness in working within a team environment, including appropriate follow-through with others and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Excellent organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment including carrying out appropriate follow-through with others and giving and receiving constructive feedback.
  • Commitment to continuous learning through attending in-house seminars, webinars, and continuing education opportunities outside the office.
  • Ability to translate non-specific input into fully-conceived design strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • Design experience within an A/E/C environment.
  • Experience with HTML, image library management tools (such as Open Asset), CRM tools (Deltek), and digital marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact).
