We are seeking a Technology Services Project Engineer in Madison, Wisconsin. Multiple positions are available.
Responsibilities:
The Technology Services Project Engineer position is responsible for low voltage systems design in various vertical markets and building types including but not limited to healthcare, sports facilities, higher education and academic facilities, laboratories, and industrial, high hazard, mission critical, and local, state, and government projects. The specific products that will be designed include:
- Telecommunications Systems: copper and fiber optic backbone cabling, structured cabling, wireless infrastructure, community area television, and data centers.
- Security Systems: electronic access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection Healthcare Systems: nurse call, operating room video integration, real time locating systems (RTLS), infant protection, patient wandering, and synchronized clock systems.
- Audio Visual Systems: presentation systems, active learning classrooms, intercom, public address and sound masking, and digital signage.
- Life Safety Systems: area of rescue assistance, cellular distributed antenna system, emergency responder radio reinforcement system, and mass notification.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Convert system design concepts into specific layouts by interpreting information set forth in basis of design as well as information gathered from users, other consultants, field surveys and code research.
- Review the layout of systems and equipment in AutoCAD or Revit with project team members, project partners, and clients
- Oversee system calculations, and sizing and selection of major system components
- Identify relevant project requirements/information required to establish conceptual plans and design criteria. Define and document applicable technical information on the basis of design (“BOD”), including information gathered from users, project partners, field surveys, and code research.
- In conjunction with Project Manager and Senior Project Engineer, act as primary point of contact with project partners and client on technology engineering design issues.
- Lead the overall engineering design process for a variety of projects such as those in the Science and Technology, Healthcare, Industrial, and Mission Critical disciplines as well as the overall production and quality of project deliverables.
- Create and maintain an action list of open items and monitor progress in resolving issues related to technology engineering.
- Anticipate, identify, and plan design work required to meet project deadlines, adapting to changing needs and priorities. Raise day-to-day and long-term staffing, budget, and quality issues with the appropriate people (Project Managers and team members) in a constructive manner.
- Delegate and manage work, identify specific tasks, and balance work for Engineers and Designers to meet client demands and project deadlines. Provide appropriate level of oversight and reviews work to ensure established engineering principles are consistently used.
- Engage in employee mentoring through project work for staff at all levels of the project.
- Develop innovative and unique engineering solutions to align with project, client, and project partner’s needs, and lead the technology engineering team in implementing the solutions
- Collaborate with the Project Manager and engineering design team to develop a project work plan, including project milestones and deliverables schedule
- In conjunction with the Project Manager and engineering design team, develop and execute a Quality Control (QC) plan for each phase of the project. Confirm that appropriate QC efforts are conducted for the discipline at the appropriate times and in a timely manner.
This job is based out of the company's Madison office, but employees may work remotely from home within commuting distance up to 2 days per week. Up to 25% domestic travel to project sites required.
Qualifications:
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 3 years of experience designing low voltage building systems, including spatial requirements and design coordination.
In addition, the following specific skills are required:
- 3 years of experience with Revit MEP and AutoCAD
- 3 years of experience with Information Technology systems infrastructure, physical security systems, audio visual systems, smart/Intelligent building technologies, and healthcare low voltage systems
- 3 years of experience with project delivery methods, specification writing, and quality control procedures.
- 3 years of experience with NFPA, TIA, and BICSI standards.
- RCDD, CTS, PSP, or CNIDP certification.
