Overview

Affiliated Engineers Metro DC, Inc. seeks a BIM Developer in Rockville, MD.  Salary range: $118,000 - $138,000 per year plus benefits (health, dental, vision) and eligibility for bonuses. Job requires up to 20% domestic travel to attend meetings, training sessions, and industry events.

 

Responsibilities:

 

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Enhance and expand the firm’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities with advanced programming, artificial intelligence (AI), and automation solutions.
  • Develop and integrate custom tools, add-ins, and workflows for Autodesk software platforms (Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks) to improve design, collaboration, and data management processes.
  • Develop custom applications, plugins, and add-ins for Autodesk software using APIs (Revit API, AutoCAD .NET API, Dynamo, and Forge).
  • Lead efforts in automating repetitive design tasks and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors in BIM processes.
  • Collaborate with the Design Technology BIM Manager to establish and maintain advanced BIM standards, workflows, and libraries.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions, that can enhance BIM-related processes.
  • Assist in the creation of AI-driven design and analysis tools to streamline decision-making in engineering and design projects.
  • Partner with project teams to support BIM execution, including clash detection, model coordination, and data extraction.
  • Identify and recommend technology solutions that improve collaboration between various disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Provide training and support for BIM Specialists and project teams on the use of custom tools, automation scripts, and AI-driven solutions.
  • Participate in project BIM kick-off meetings to define technology strategies and set up models with custom tools and workflows.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for custom software, workflows, and training materials.
  • Assist in hardware and software evaluations and provide recommendations for new technology investments.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in BIM, programming, AI, and related technologies by attending conferences, webinars, and workshops.

 

Qualifications:

 

Required: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, or a related field plus 5 years of experience in the architectural engineering and construction industry with a focus on Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies and software development.

 

In addition, the following specific skills are required:

  • 5 years of experience with C# and Python programming languages.
  • 5 years of experience developing custom tools using Autodesk Platform Services APIs.
  • 5 years of experience developing workflows and standards for Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • 5 years of experience using Artificial Intelligence to improve BIM workflows.
  • 5 years of experience with source control systems and agile project management methodologies.
